Lori is responsible for writing, coordinating and overseeing the grant application and management process including identification of potential new funding sources for existing and proposed programs and/or services.
Prior to joining the ECIDA, Lori served as the Town of Evans Director of Community Development from 2002-2016. In that role, she was active in town planning and development issues, including advancement of economic, industrial, business, agricultural, housing and population growth in the Evans/Angola community, with an emphasis on enhancing the quality of life for citizens, improving the tax base, and promoting community assets.
During her tenure in Evans, she helped secure over $6 million dollars in funding for community improvements. Ms. Szewczyk also served as chairman of the Evans Economic Development Advisory Board; chief administer of the Evans Business Revolving Loan Fund; chair of the Lake Erie Beach Neighborhood Task Force (responsible for the development and implementation of the comprehensive LEB Revitalization Strategy); and, project leader for the "Partnering for Tourism Development in the Southtowns," initiative, which resulted in the development of an Asset Inventory; Strategic Plan; and Assessment of Farms.
Lori also worked as a real estate paralegal for several years while pursuing higher education. She received her MS in Multidisciplinary Studies from the State University College at Buffalo in 1999.
